He's more powerful than mortal mages, but for the most part only to a degree that makes observers think he's ✨ gifted ✨, not some kind of freak who needs to explain himself. His main area of expertise is primal/elemental magic, so manipulating/summoning lightning, fire, ice, and stone, e.g. pulling up rock to fling around or summoning localized lightning storms.
Otherwise: he's a somniari/dreamer who can lucid dream and communicate with others in their dreams, he can surround himself with invisible magic that forms a shield to protect against the elements (pretty effectively since he likes to hang out in the middle of forest fires), he can ward his immediate surroundings to prevent dreaming or to be alerted if someone crosses the perimeter, he can shoot arcane projectiles that do some minor physical damage, he can manipulate magical energy to cancel/cleanse magic and cause backlashes to spellcasters, and sometimes he just vanishes into thin air for a while. I assume that last one is just an ancient elf version of Fade step/mage teleportation that lets him go farther away. He can also track people using their belongings, but it's imprecise — it'll take him to somewhere they have recently been, but not necessarily where they currently are.
No problem nerfing any of this in any way.
And I'm gonna just unilaterally cut his ability to rejuvenate plants because it's a one-sentence throwaway moment in the book and he might only be able to do it in the first place because he is in the Crossroads at the time, unclear.
